We can apostille a solicitor-certified original or copy of your transcripts – but we need to receive the original transcripts.

Often transcripts can be ‘bound’ with the qualification (Degree, Bachelor, PhD etc), but you need to check that the requesting authority accepts bound or copied documents.

Let us know if we should apostille the original or a certified copy.

If you only have a COPY, or a digital download (PDF), our solicitors will require proof that your copy/PDF is genuine. This can be achieved by asking the issuing university to send an email to our solicitors directly.

Originals do not require proof for the solicitor or notary.

The order process:

Step one:

We need to receive the original transcript even if you want to apostille a copy. Check with the requesting authority if an apostilled copy will be accepted.

Step two:

Both the original and copy of transcripts and supplements must be certified by an FCDO-registered solicitor or notary public before they can be apostilled.

If you don’t want to organise your own certification, we can provide this service for you.

Step three:

Contact our office by phone or email and let them know you need your transcript(s) apostilled.

Please provide the following information:

Do you also need your degree apostilled?
Is the apostille for the original – or a copy?
In which country will your documents be used?
Do you require a translation?
How soon do you need the apostille?
How is the transcript delivered and returned?

Once we have all the information, the team will assess your enquiry and give you a detailed quotation.

If you accept the quotation, we will take care of everything.

Step four:

When your transcript has been apostilled, we will send you a scanned copy via email to confirm the process has been completed successfully.

Your documents are on their way or ready for collection.

If you are not collecting your apostilled supplement from our London office – we’ll provide you with the tracking number as soon as they’ve been given to the courier.

Note that we return documents with DHL or Royal Mail.

Your fast-track apostille options

Choose the turnaround that fits your deadline.

Option 1: Next business day

Your deed poll must arrive at our office by 9:30 am. It will be ready to collect from around 3:30 pm the following business day

Option 2: 3 to 4 day service

Documents arriving after 9:30 am are processed on the 3 to 4 business day track. This is our most popular option.

Option 3: e-Apostille in 5 to 48 hours

The e-apostille is a digital version of the apostille certificate. If your document qualifies, it is usually completed within 24 hours, but may take 2 working days, depending on the FCDO’s workload.

Most ink-signed deed polls require the paper apostille instead. Contact us if you are unsure which applies to you.

Can I use a certified copy to get an apostille certificate?

Yes. You can use certified copies of your university transcript to get an apostille in the UK. Just make sure that the receiving country accepts apostilled copies.

If you are outside the UK, you should have your document authenticated at a British Embassy, but you need to check if this service is offered in that country.

Can all academic transcripts be apostilled?

No. The educational institute issuing the transcripts must be registered and recognised by the UK government. We cannot legalise the document if your degree transcripts are issued by a university not recognised in the UK.

We can also not accept degrees or transcripts from ‘online-only universities’.

What information is on a transcript?

A university transcript contains a list of the course units taken, the exams you have passed, and the credits gained.

In the Transcript of Records – TOR, you can usually see:

The course unit code (basically the code the host university gives to a specific academic course)
The title of the courses you have attended at your host university
The duration of the course (if one semester or two)
The local grade (your exam mark, which is very important to get your ECTS credits)
The ECTS credits you have gained by passing the exam

Will one apostille cover multiple documents?

No. each document requires its own apostille. If you want multiple academic documents certified, we provide a ‘Bound Set’ arrangement, a cost-effective option.

A ‘bound set’ means that your transcripts receive the apostille service together. A cover sheet is created and then signed as a confirmation of the bound documents by our solicitor.

After creating this cover, we physically attach it to the academic documents using legal bindings. The apostille, after that, secures the cover sheet legalising all records in the bound set.

However, before taking this option, we recommend you check with the requesting authority how they want the academic documents presented.

Do you provide embassy attestation too?

Yes. After legalising your UK academic transcripts, we can provide embassy attestation for your university transcript documents.

If you have studied overseas or in a non-EU country

If you have studied outside the EU (or outside the UK), you should legalise and authenticate documents in the country of origin. The UK FCDO only apostilles UK documents.

Although not always possible, you could try getting a notary public to authenticate your transcript. The notary can advise if your document will be accepted in the UK for legalisation.
