How our power of attorney service works

1. Send your draft

Email your POA for a free review. We confirm the requirements, provide a quote, and confirm the expected turnaround before arranging your appointment.

2. Sign your POA

Sign at the notary’s office or by video, where accepted. You’ll need your passport and proof of address.

3. Receive your documents

We obtain your apostille and arrange any required embassy legalisation, then organise collection or delivery of your completed documents.

Sign in person or by video

In person

We arrange your appointment at the notary’s office. You sign in person, with your passport and proof of address ready. We’ll confirm any additional witness requirements beforehand.

By video

Sign from the UK or overseas, subject to the notary’s approval and your receiving authority’s acceptance. The notarial certificate records that the appointment took place by video.

You may still need to post the signed original after a video appointment. We’ll confirm this before booking.

Turnaround times for your POA

Notarisation

Usually 2–3 working days. Same-day notarisation may be available for urgent requests, subject to review and appointment availability.

Standard paper apostille

Allow 3–4 working days once notarisation is complete and your POA is ready for submission to the FCDO.

Next-day paper apostille

If you complete notarisation by 10 am and your POA is ready for submission, we can submit it that day for completion the next working day.

Embassy legalisation and delivery take additional time. Tell us your deadline when you send your draft, and we’ll confirm the expected timing before booking.

What to prepare for your appointment

We’ll confirm exactly what to provide before your appointment. You’ll normally need:

The final version of your POA.
Your passport and a scan for the notary’s records.
Proof of address, such as a bank statement or utility bill.
Any additional witnesses or supporting documents requested by the notary.

For business POAs, the notary may also need company documents confirming the signatory’s position and authority.

We’ll explain when and how to sign, and confirm any witness arrangements before the appointment.

Embassy legalisation and POA translations

Embassy or consular attestation

If your POA also needs embassy or consular attestation, we can arrange this after the apostille. We’ll confirm the requirements and expected timing before you proceed.

Translation

We can arrange certified translations where needed. Share any instructions from your overseas lawyer or receiving authority so we can confirm the appropriate translation service.

Any agreed embassy or translation work will be included in your quote, with the additional time clearly explained.
