What you need to know

Cut-off times for next-day apostille

• 09:30 am – documents that need solicitor certification (gives our solicitor time to sign)
• 10:00 am – documents that don’t need certification (originals already stamped or signed)

No certification is needed for birth, marriage, death, adoption, ACRO, medical certificates, or any UK original bearing an official stamp or signature.

Timing caveat – The FCDO may extend turnaround if they need to verify a signature.

Do you need documents bundled, or have three or more documents? Email us before ordering for a discounted quote.

Documents needing notarisation are not eligible for the next day service —unless an FCDO-registered notary has already notarised them.

*What kind of document do you have?
If your document is a copy or PDF (from a university, court, HR department, bank, HMRC, personal or business source):
A UK solicitor can only certify a copy after confirming it came straight from the issuer. Please email us one of these proofs so we can verify it without delay:
Confirmation email from the issuer—the authority or author emails the document to us (or cc’s us) and states it is genuine.
Portal evidence: Give the solicitor view-only access or share a short video or screen share showing the file inside the official online account (e.g., university portal, HR system, banking, or HMRC site).
Screen recording of download—record yourself logging in and downloading the document from the original source.
The solicitor can not certify a copy if none of these are supplied.

Original required – no copies or e-Apostille.
The FCDO will only legalise this document in its paper form. Scans, photocopies and digital apostilles are not accepted for this document type.
Please post or hand-deliver the physical original, or ask the issuing authority for a fresh certified copy if you need to keep the first one.

ID documents – original required for certification (unless pre-certified)
Passports, UK or international driving licences, and government ID cards are apostilled as solicitor-certified copies.
If your ID is not yet certified:
Send or bring the original to our office by 09:30 am.
Our solicitor makes a photocopy, certifies it as a true likeness
The signed copy—not the original—goes to the FCDO for the apostille.
Your original ID is returned to you by secure courier or made available for collection.
If an FCDO-registered solicitor or notary has already certified your ID:
We can send that signed copy straight to the FCDO, so you don’t need to provide the physical ID again.
Scans, photos, or uncertified photocopies cannot be legalised on their own.

Certificate of Good Standing
Please deliver or post the original document.
In most cases the "original", wet ink signed, Certificate of Good Standing from Companies House must be legalised.
Although copies, if certified by an FCDO-registered solicitor or notary can also be legalised, including e-apostilles if required and confirmed that the overseas authority accepts the electronic apostille.

ACCA Qualifications
If your ACCA is a Membership Certificate with the Red Embossed Seal - we must receive the original – no copies or e-Apostille can be issued for membership certificates.
All other ACCA certificates, copies can be legalised if certified by an FCDO-registered solicitor or notary.

Companies House Documents
Our solicitor can download your document directly from the Companies House website and certify them as true copies for apostille.
Just paste the Companies House link (or the company number) in the Order Comments box on the next pages or email us the details.
If you have several Companies House documents and/or need them BUNDLED please contact the office first for a combined quote.

British Certificates of Naturalisation
We must receive your original British Certificates of Naturalisation.
Our FCDO-registered solicitor will make a photocopy and certify that copy as a “true likeness of the original.”
That certified copy (not the original) goes to the FCDO for the apostille.
