UK document types you can price instantly

Not all documents need the same treatment. Some can go straight to the FCDO for an apostille stamp.

Others need a solicitor’s certification first. This makes a difference to your final cost.

Documents that go straight through (no certification needed):

  • Birth, marriage, death, and adoption certificates

  • ACRO police certificates

  • Certificate of No Impediment (CNI)

  • Court documents with original official stamps

  • HMRC documents bearing official signatures

  • Companies House documents signed by the Registrar

  • Medical certificates (issued by FCDO-registered doctors)

  • Civil partnership certificates (original only – photocopies cannot be certified)

  • Degree certificates, diplomas, and academic transcripts

  • Professional qualifications (TEFL, ACCA, teaching certificates)

  • Employment letters, P60s, and payslips

  • Passport and driving licence copies

  • DBS certificates (unsigned versions)

  • Company documents requiring authentication

  • Powers of Attorney (if not already notarised)

The difference is that solicitor certification adds £30+ to your total, depending on whether it’s a personal or business document.

Not sure which category your document falls into? Order your apostille with solicitor certification, and we’ll handle the verification for you.

What’s included in every apostille fee

When you see our prices, that’s what you pay. We bundle everything so there’s no maths to do later.

Your quote includes:

  • FCDO government fee

  • Our service and admin fees

  • VAT

  • Free email scan of your completed apostille

  • Standard UK return postage

Optional extras you can add:

  • Solicitor certification (from £30 depending on document type)

  • Notarisation (from £84)

  • Sworn translation (from £45 per page)

We believe in straightforward pricing – what you see is what you pay. If it’s part of getting your apostille done, we tell you upfront.

Standard vs. express apostille service cost differences

Speed costs money. That’s just how it works. But we keep the premiums reasonable because we know you’re not planning these trips or visa deadlines for fun.

Service Level Processing Time Starting Price Best For
Standard (3-4 days) 3-4 working days From £87 Most people (balanced speed and cost)
Express (next-day) 1 working day From £97 Tight deadlines, urgent travel
Same-Day Service Same day From £119 Extreme urgencies only
E-Apostille 1-2 working days From £55 Digital delivery, countries that accept e-apostilles

Note: Prices shown are for documents that don’t require solicitor certification. Documents like degrees, employment letters, or passport copies need certification first, which adds to the total cost.

The government sets its own fees – £35 for e-apostilles, £45 for paper. The FCDO also offers same-day processing at £100, but this is restricted to extreme emergencies only and is rarely approved.

We’re FCDO-registered agents – that’s the key. This official status means we can access the FCDO’s next-day service, which isn’t available if you apply directly. That’s where the time saving comes from.

And that time difference is what our service fee covers. Plus the legwork – checking your documents are correct, submitting them properly, collecting them, and getting them back to you safely.

No hidden fees in your apostille quote

We’ve seen people get burned by surprise charges. A quote that looks cheap, then suddenly there’s a “processing fee,” “handling charge,” or “admin cost” at checkout.

Not here.

When we say £87 for a standard apostille, that’s £87. The government fee, our service fee, VAT, document checks, and return postage – it’s all in that number.

The only time the price changes:

If you ask us to add something we didn’t originally quote.

Want to upgrade from standard to express? That’s an extra cost.

Need a sworn translation we didn’t discuss? We’ll tell you the price before doing the work.

How we compare to competitors

Most UK apostille services charge £79-£97 for standard processing of simple documents. We’re at £87, right in the middle.

Add solicitor certification, and you’re looking at £120, same as the market average. Our next-day express at £97 beats competitors charging £115-£130 for the same turnaround.

The numbers check out because we’ve been doing this for 15 years. We don’t need to play pricing games to stay busy.

Why trust London Apostille Services Ltd.

Because you’re handing over important documents (often the only copies you have) and trusting someone to do it right.

  • 15 years in business: We’ve processed over 10,000 documents since opening in 2009. Birth certificates for overseas weddings, degree certificates for work visas, and company documents for international trade. If it needs an apostille, we’ve seen it.

  • FCDO-registered agents: We’re on the official list of registered agents with the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. That means we can access the next-day service that’s not available to the general public.

  • Your documents are safe with us: We’re ICO-registered for data protection. Your documents are stored securely in our office with controlled access. Only authorised staff handle your paperwork, and we follow strict procedures to maintain confidentiality throughout the process. All the boring-but-important stuff that matters when you’re trusting someone with originals.

  • Full refund guarantee: If your document gets rejected because of something we did wrong, we’ll refund your entire fee. That’s our guarantee.

  • Real people answering phones: Call us between 8am-5pm Monday to Friday (online support until 7 pm) and you’ll speak to someone on our team. Not a call centre, not a chatbot. Someone who knows how apostilles work.

We’ve been doing this for 15 years, and we’re proud of the trust our clients place in us. Browse our apostille services and place your order today.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Quick answers to the questions we hear most often:

Yes. If you’re sending three or more documents, you can contact us for a bulk quote. The FCDO charges per document, but we can reduce our service fees when processing multiple documents together.

Savings typically range from £5-£15 per document, depending on volume.

No. Our pricing is the same whether you’re in London, Manchester, Edinburgh, or anywhere else in the UK. We serve clients nationwide. Post your documents to our office, and we’ll return them via tracked Royal Mail at no extra cost.

If you prefer international courier delivery, that’s an optional add-on.

The FCDO government fees are not subject to VAT. That’s set by HMRC rules. Our quoted prices are all-inclusive and include any applicable taxes.

If you’re a non-UK resident, you may qualify for VAT exemption. Get in touch, and we’ll work out what applies to your situation.

Yes, translations are separate from apostille costs. We work with sworn translators who can certify documents in over 100 languages. Prices start from £45 per page (roughly 250 words) with a 48-hour turnaround.

If you need your foreign document apostilled, we can coordinate both services. Just know they’re billed separately.

No. Document verification is included in our service fee. Before we submit anything to the FCDO, our team checks that your documents meet their requirements – correct signatures, proper stamps, and no missing pages.

If something’s not right, we’ll contact you before proceeding. There’s no separate “checking fee” or “verification charge.”

Standard UK postage is included. We’ll send your completed documents back via Royal Mail Special Delivery at no extra charge.

If you need an international courier (DHL or FedEx), a same-day London bike courier, or specific delivery instructions, those are optional extras.
